1999 yamaha G16E won't go

I have a 1999 G16E yamaha 36V. It would quit bet I could "jiggle" the directional switch and it would go for a long time. When it would stop, the pedal would still click. Now it wont go even if you jiggle the switch. The pedal won't even click now. The batteries are new and charged.
