New to Me Cart with Brand New Batteries still VERY sluggish

Bought a 2010 Club Car from a local golf course. 48 volt. I installed 6 brand new 8 volt batteries today however the cart still runs VERY sluggish. It feels Like the car is just about to run dead. I've installed batteries before so I'm nearly 100% sure that I got it correct. Any idea what I might check out? Why does it feel so slow and sluggish? Thanks in advance for your help. Sam

Hey Sam! Congrats on the new Club Car. Sluggish performance after a battery replacement can sometimes trace back to connections. I'd suggest checking the cables for any corrosion or loose fittings. Also, take a peek at the battery voltage under load to ensure they're all reading correctly. If those seem fine, it might be worth examining the motor brushes for wear and tear.
