96 club car voltage regulator

I think the voltage regulator is bad , I am told but the one I ordered has yellow red and 2 black wires the one on the 96 club car has 1 red and 1 yellow and no black what is going on do I have the wrong one

yes you have the wrong one.
red- goes to the soilnoid
yellow- goes to "DF" on the starter generator
the bolt that goes through the voltage regulator and into the frame of the cart acts as a ground
