How to get a 2002 to crank over ?

Sorry for such a simple question but I got a basket case 2002 gas that I am ready to make it crank over after going through the fuel system, cranking battery, etc.... I just dont know if you leave the shift selector in neutral and the press the gas pedal, or put it in gear then press the gas pedal.....and what position does the park brake need to be in during the cranking procedure ?

I forgot to mention that I am a newbie....and....i just cannot find the owners manual online....but was able to get the parts list....also wasn't able to get the repair manual online.
