1985 club car brake problem

After replacing brake shoes, I'm having a hard time getting the brake drums back on

On the back side of the upper post for the brake shoes, there will be a square post (the old rubber boot may still be on it). Turn counter clockwise to adjust the shoes all the way down in the slot. Put the drum on and put the lug nuts on without the tire. Tighten by turning the square adjuster in a clockwise direction. Turn until the hub cannot be turned with the brake foot pedal released. Next turn the square adjuster counter clockwise 1 and 3/4 turns. Hub should now be free. Notes: 1. Make sure there is slack in the brake cables when adjusting at the rear end. 2. Make sure that there is not a lip more than .030" on the outer edge of the drum. 3. Drums are cheap when you consider that an out of control golf cart can kill someone.

True what you are saying about an out of control golf cart. Personally I don't know the kids that got killed but, it was in the news this spring in the Nashville area. Sadly some High School boys were riding in their fathers Precident and going down a steep hill lost control and hit a fancy brick mail box. One boy died and another got hurt badly.
