wont stay in reverse grinds

If you hold it in you are able to back up if not it grinds a horiable noise any idea were to look other than cable adjustment

If you bypass the cable and it still pops out of gear/grinds and stuff, its internal. It is tough to say without cracking it open, possible bad syncro.
