2005 club car ds reverse problem?

Hello, I am new here and I just bought a 05 DS. Cart runs great in forward but when you try and put it in reverse it grinds really loud and will not go in. Any help would be appreciated!

Hello welcome to the forums. It grinds and will not allow you to shift into reverse? or it shifts into reverse and does a grind noise?

We have one that does the same thing,, if you hold down the reverse lever, it does ok, seems like it doesn't go in gear all the way?

It goes into forward and works fine. It does go into reverse, but comes part way out of gear and "GRINDS"!

That is a shifter cable adjustment, pull off the seat and the access panel below the seat backs. There should be a 2 nut adjustment on the cable end. Spin the nuts to lengthen the cable or shorten the cable, whichever is needed.

Adjustment is all the way to reverse. Just barely won't stay in gear.( reverse). forward is fine even w. cable adjusted all the way to rear. If you put a small amount of pressure on the lever itself ,it goes and stays in reverse. Maybe in the rear gear, or lever itself?
