  • possible timing issue

I have an 83 gas yamaha 43d??? 4 cycle single cylinder golf cart. The wiring was messed up (frayed, insulation burnt off, and connected wrong) when I got it. One solenoid was broken (brakelight end ). Someone connected wire, so it would run but only forward. The starter generator was not running.

I had the starter generator rebuilt and repaired the solenoid. I rewired it. The issue with it now is low idle speed with some back fire in forward. Runs better in reverse but requires some playing with the choke to get up to speed and engage centrifigal clutch.

Is there a possible timing promblem, wiring isue, magneto, CDI unit I should investigate???

I think you have a G1A, a gas powered Yamaha with a 2 cycle engine. Use this article to find out...

You can also use pictures in this article here...

Let me know and I will go from there

Sorry made a mistake typing. It is a 2 cycle engine. Single cylinder. Do you have any ideas or some place to send me?

Hi sorry for the late response. Clean up the carburetor, especially the jets inside. If you have to play with the choke, this is a carb issue. Make sure your whole intake is sealed up from air filter to engine.
