  • need charger manual help!

I just got a 2003 western 42 volt cart, and it came with a charger i have never seen before.

Does anyone have the manual or info about this charger?

    It is :

    Delta- Q Technologies
    Quiq 4218
    HF/PFC BATTERY CHARGER 42 volt 18 amp

The lack of dependable customer service from Delta Q is a big headache for folks, making many steer clear of their chargers. It's frustrating not having repair options too because investing in a charger without a backup plan for fixes is risky business. And not having a maintenance charge mode? That's just asking for trouble, especially during the off season when you need to keep those batteries topped off. Depending on how old your charger is, this info might match up:
    1. Always start by using a grounded outlet to connect the charger.
    2. Upon connecting the charger, it will initiate a brief LED indicator self-test. For models xx0x, all LEDs will flash in an up-down sequence, while models xx1x will alternatively flash RED-GREEN. If the charger is linked to a battery pack, a trickle current will be applied until reaching a minimum voltage. However, if the charger is waiting to be connected to a battery pack, it will display the charging algorithm number for 11 seconds before eventually indicating an under-voltage fault.
    3. Once the charger detects a minimum battery voltage, it enters the bulk charging constant-current stage. For models xx0x, the current to the battery is displayed on the bargraph, with more LEDs indicating a higher charge current. Models xx1x will flash its LED GREEN off more than on to indicate <80% charge status. The duration of the charge varies based on factors such as battery size, depletion level, input voltage, and ambient temperatures. If input AC voltage is low or ambient temperature is too high, the charging power is adjusted accordingly to prevent issues.
    4. When the battery reaches approximately 80% state of charge, the bulk stage is completed, and an >80% charge indication is given. The absorption or constant-voltage phase then returns the last 20% of charge to the battery. Although charging could be terminated at this point for immediate usage, it's advisable to wait until 100% charge indication to ensure optimal battery capacity and lifespan.
    5. Following the absorption phase, a low current "finish-charge" phase is applied to maintain maximum battery capacity. Models xx0x flash the '100%' LED during this phase.
    6. Once the '100%' LED or single LED on Models xx1x continuously shows GREEN, the batteries are fully charged. The charger can be unplugged from AC power, though it will automatically restart a complete charge cycle if the battery pack voltage drops below a minimum level or if 30 days have passed.
    7. In case of a fault during charging, a fault indication flashes RED with a corresponding error code. Various conditions may generate errors, some of which require human intervention to resolve and reset the charger by interrupting AC power for at least 15 seconds. Other errors may automatically recover once the fault condition is eliminated. The fault indication flashes RED a specific number of times to denote the error, with different codes indicating different issues such as battery voltage levels, charge timeout, over-temperature, or internal faults.
    Flash Codes:

[1 FLASH] Battery Voltage High: auto-recover [2 FLASH] Battery Voltage Low: auto-recover [3 FLASH] Charge Timeout: the charge did not complete in the allowed time. This may indicate a problem with the battery pack (voltage not attaining the required level), or that the charger output was reduced due to high ambient temperatures. [4 FLASH] Check Battery: the battery pack could not be trickle charged up to the minimum level required for the charge to be started. This may indicate that one or more cells in the battery pack are shorted or damaged. [5 FLASH] Over-Temperature: auto-recover. Charger has shutdown due to high internal temperature which typically indicates there is not sufficient airflow for cooling – see Installation Instructions 1). Charger will restart and charge to completion if temperature comes within accepted limits. [6 FLASH] QuiQ Fault: an internal fault has been detected. If Fault 6 is again displayed after interrupting AC power for at least 15 seconds, the charger must be brought to a qualified service depot.
