  • 2001 vs. 2004 DS

I have found some gas 2004 & 2005 plain golf DS cars no windshields but, tops selling for around $2500.

I just found a $1600 plain gas DS with windshield.

Are there differences in the 2001 compared to the 2004/5 DS

    Thanks in advance. Tim

Plain = no lift, no lights, no back seat

The newer models are dealership sales with a short warranty

The 2001 DS is a private sale...

You should be able to get an 06 - 07 and maybe an 08 for 1500 dollars with 2 to 3 year old batteries

pistolpete, Yes, the tops are the same.

BTW I did buy the car so, Cindy and I are now the proud owners of the 2001 gas DS. It has a Club Car hour meter on it and it reads 740.

Here was the CL sale unless it gets pulled. Tim

gaminde, I was strickly looking for a gas car. I could be wrong but, I went to dealers and they wanted $2200 for a 2000/01 DS gas cars and $2500 for 2004/05 gas DS cars in my area. I have been watching CL for some time.

I did buy the 2001 DS gas car for $1600 and that left room for a back seat. All in all I rather have a gas car and as far as I know there aren't many differences in the DS gas model year 2001 vs 2004/05.

Around here, the dealer near me would be over 2K for an '01. Good for you and they clean up easy most times. Take the rear body off if you feel like it and that helps you get a good visual of anything you may miss on your inspection and its easier for the first time cleaning.

                  Thanks for sayin ak47fan.

I agree with your statement about selling prices of the 2001 DS gas cars. That does make me feel better about my purchase price. I will try to remove the body for inspection and cleaning. I have a pressure washer and plan to carefully clean the coating of dirt all over the underbody. A new post with pic's will be coming soon and of course more questions. Tim
