  • At my wits end.

After another 6 hr marathon, my 67hd refuses to run for longer than 4 blocks before it starts missing due to fried points. The copper arm is blueing and the contacts pitting. I have replaced all electrical components and checked all wiring per the diagram. A suggestion was made about the points plate shorting out? Open to suggestions/ is there any solid state ignition systems available for one cyl. engines?

I finally got it! Found out thanks to Greg at vintagegolfcarts that the new coil from my auto parts store was the culprit. They sold me a coil that needed external resistor. I put one in that was internally resisted (the original rusty one) and it screams like its supposed to.

My first cart was a '67 HD. If memory serves me, it requires a condenser.

You will pleasantly surprised if you use a Pulstar spark plug. It will eliminate the misses due to the antique ignition / carburation combination. I use one in my 1978 Harley golf cart.
