All these small gas motors have their similarities and idiosyncrasies, I'm sure you'll have no trouble catching on to golf carts.

Mechanically i know they all pretty much work the same.Ive got one that has very weak fire at the plugs and im not sure how the ignition system works to check it

I'm not a gas guy but I do know that you need a good battery and that the starter is also the generator. The generator should be putting out somewhere around 15v-16v when it's running.
After 5 posts you will have access to the service manuals for that motor.
Hang in there, I'm sure guys with some gas experience will be along soon.
