  • TXT48 (2016) one beep when switching from tow to on

    I believe I have a 2015 or 2016 EZGO TXT48 electric golf cart and it's not running.

The charger had appeared to charge the cart (Light on the charger) but there was no blinking on the charge port like last year.

Before I hooked it up to the charger, I did get it running backwards and forwards just to test.

Then I took it off the charger when it was over 80% and turned the key on and nothing. Won't go in reverse or forward.

I then switched from on to tow. When I switched back from tow to on, I hear a single quick beep and nothing else.

I did notice that my charge port wire with the grey box (thermal resister?) was really corroded and this past weekend broke off. So I'm ordering a new charger port.

Grabbed a tester and did get 48v from the batteries so there's a complete circuit there.

I'm wondering if a bad charge port with those wires can lockout a golf cart or cause this problem. Or if it's a solenoid or even worse, controller problem.

    Did anyone solve this problem?

A failed or corroded charge port, especially the grey wire coming from the charge receptacle (which is part of the interlock circuit), can absolutely cause the symptoms you're seeing. That wire communicates with the controller to disable the cart while it's charging, and if it’s broken or corroded, the controller may think the charger is still plugged in, which will prevent the cart from moving in either direction. The single beep you hear when switching from tow to run is usually a good sign, it means the controller is at least powering up, but without a proper signal from that interlock line, it won’t enable motion.

The 48V at the pack tells you the batteries are supplying voltage, but it doesn’t confirm the rest of the system is getting what it needs to operate. Replacing the charge port is a smart next move and there's a good chance that resolves it. If not, then the next step would be checking for a solenoid click when pressing the pedal and verifying activation voltage at the small terminals. But definitely get the charge port squared away first. It’s a known failure point on TXTs and often overlooked.
