ez-go 2001 36 volt

Hello i am new to site, i have been having this issue since cart was new. I turn ign. on engage accelorator, solenoid clicks, but won't send power to motor. If I turn switch on and off what seems like 100 times the cart will take off. I have checked all connections, the funny thing is if I park on a down slope and get it moving before engaging acc. it will go every time. or have had passenger push some it will take right off. Please help.

Im going to guess brushes or bad armature

could be F/R anything getting hot after riding for a few minutes (besides resistors)

what is your top speed ?
this is a resistor cart ?

don't know top speed, but it has plenty of power. How do I tell if it is a resistor cart? That is what I was afraid of, armature that is.

Well I would put a meter on the arm terminals and have someone lightly press the pedal if there's voltage then try brushes.

when you say arm terminals do you mean each side of solenoid?

2001 should be a series cart with controller.

From the sound of it you have a dead spot in the motor.

thanks for the help--I am in agreement on the dead spot, it has done it since it was new. thanks again. What is your opinions on upgrading to higher end motor while I am at it..?

Well first of all put your ohm meter on the armature or Brushes Terminal and push the cart Forward very slowly and see if the meter drops out. Disconnect the battery first
