forward/reverse switch

I have a 99 ezgo txt, And the reverse switch melted down and caused a fire. What would have caused this? And also does anyone have wiring diagram for this model, I am new to all of this Thanks for any help.

Bad connections, worn, loose any of them could cause it.

Should find it under schematic's for the 1999 year model.
