  • Need help with finding battery cables

I need help finding battery cables for carts.

The local Pep Boys, and O'Reilly auto parts have a very limited selection.

I was hoping to find a 15" cable. Most of theirs were from 19" to 72".

I need cables for cart batteries, with the ring terminal at each end.

I am considering making my own cables, since I am always looking for different lengths, and quantities.

Alot of cart suppliers sell the cables in sets for a particular model cart.

Can anyone suggest a decent place to buy the parts to make my own, that are reasonable?

    i appreciate the help.

IMO, battery cables from the auto supply store are not good for golf carts, strand count too small and poor lugs with the wrong size hole.
You can replace the stock 6ga cables with 6ga again but my advice for longevity, better power transfer etc is to use 4ga cables on any replacements.
It's always best to do all cables but that's not always practical and an owner's budget may not allow it.
The best cable you can use is welding cable and you should be able to find a welding supply in town to buy both the cable and connectors from. Cable is about $1.50 for 4ga and the 5/16" hole lugs are about $1.50 as well. They should also be able to make up cables for you.
You can also buy cable and lugs online and have it shipped to you and make your own with either a crimped connection or a soldered connection, either is fine.
Here's where I have purchased cable and solder type lugs w/solder pellets from in past: http://spectrowireandcable.com/c/Meg...er-Loaded.html
You can also try eBay for cables, I have bought some there as well and some cheaper than I could make them.

We have a store called Battery Warehouse here in town that has anything you could ever want. Wire, connectors, you name it along with batteries if all kinds. Maybe there is something similar in your area.

The cables for regular cars and trucks are not made to handle the amps and current a golf cart need. The beast thing to do for cables is make them your self. Find a local welding supply store. They will have the cable and fittings you need.
