1999 Club Car will not charge

I just bought a 1999 Club Car 48V cart. I changed batteries and made the mistake of buying 6V batteries at first. I ran cart for a day and it ran slow. I changed all battery cables first, before I figured out I had wrong batteries. I got new 8V batteries and cart runs good. The battery charger will not charge batteries now. It will go on for about 10 mins charging at 10-12 amps and then it will kick off. The battery light will flash with charger plugger in 5 seconds and then 30 second and keep repeating. I tried resetting computer and it still does same thing. I tried another battery charger and it did the same thing.

Does anyone have any suggestions, other than replacing computer?

Check the polarity of the charging outlet on the cart, might have reversed the leads while changing out the batteries
