Lestronic 36-volt charger model 14100

I have a Lestronic 36-volt charger, model 14100 for my G16 cart. Batters are 2 years old when I charge my cart, the charger amp meter drops to 6.5 amps, but never gets lower than 6.5 amps and does not shut off. My son has a charger identical to the one that I have and when I use his charger amp meter drops to around 2 to 3 amps and shuts off. What do I need to look for to fix the problem?
