Need help 1995 Ez Go solenoid not engaging

Ok, I have a 1995 Ez Go 36V golf cart. I was replacing the solenoid with an upgraded one because toe factory would get very warn under a continuous load. I was replacing the stock one with a Curtis solenoid. When installing the solenoid, the diode and resistor did not get installed on the new solenoid and the gas pedal was pressed and of course nothing worked. Once the mistake was discovered, the diode and resistor was installed. But the solenoid will not engage. The old solenoid was reinstalled and still nothing. So looking for some help here, I'm assuming that I mav have burned up something in the controller? Can anyone tell me where to go from here? I'm hoping it is something as simple as replacing the controller. HELP PLEASE! LOL
