hyundai will not go in reveres

some times it will not go in one gear . first time it seamed to be the cable the second time it was cold when it got warm it was fine the last time it was cold but it went then in forward but when I put it in revers the shifter would not move.what is the problem?

possable cable (reverse) going bad

update I got under his cart today (in the snow) ,the cable is frayed and also frozen with water in housing replaced and all is good
