my son tells me the best thing for towing is to change my 36 volt 6 batt cart to a 48 volt 6 volt batt cart by adding two batts and a altech controller. what do you think

Hello Bob,

Welcome to GolfcartsForum. I agree. By swapping the 6 volt batteries for 8 volts, will bring you up to 48 volts and a controller to handle it all. A very noticeable increase in torque. Requires little modification for large gain.
