no movement

I'm new to golf carts as I won this cart in a drawing with snap on tools it was working fine but the batteries went down and would not charge so I had new ones put in and the guys at the battery store told me the charger wire was connected wrong they corrected that problem but also found a black wire coming out of the other side of the wiring harness that was not connected to anything and we cant figure out where it goes also I think this cart is a evolution cart from what I've found out about it does anyone have any info about these electric carts it has 8 volt batteries but now it will not move forwards or reverse
